Founder and President, Vanessa, is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Spanish and Anthropology. Vanessa brings more than two decades of experience in education and health advocacy to the organization. A Nelson County native, she has worked closely with Migrant Farm Communities (MFCs), growers, government agencies, and others to advocate for a better quality of life for farm workers in Central Virginia.
Jasmin is a graduate of Nelson County High School and is currently attending Hollins University. She is an integral part of the organization and also works as a community health promoter. Jasmin is bilingual in English and Spanish. She is a second generation immigrant whose parents are from Mexico.
Anna is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Latin American Studies and Global Environments + Sustainability. She works as the project manager for the Odd Fellows Hall in Massies Mill, Virginia and as a bilingual outreach worker.
Our board reflects our community and includes a majority of farm workers. We work together with migrant farm workers and staff to implement our programming and make decisions.
We are please to add David Lopez Ochoa to our board this year. David is from Jalisco, Mexico where he grew up on a dairy farm. He is a self proclaimed artisanal cheese maker and does farm work in his spare time.
