All (95%) of the seasonal farmworkers in our service area have been given a beautiful, locally-made face covering. With your help, we were able to achieve our goal of building community, promoting public health, and celebrating beauty. Thank you all so much for your love and financial contributions. Nelson County is a place where community is a way of life.
As CVFWI opened up in the early spring of 2020, COVID-19 made it imperative to address the pandemic in the Farm Worker Communities. Our first project, the Farm Worker Mask Project, achieved its goal of giving every farmworker in the area a quality cloth face mask. Masks were commissioned from local professional sewists, providing the added benefit of supporting the local economy. This project was completed in November and it allowed CVFWI to provide important public health education on the virus while distributing the masks. During this time, CVFWI was also able to assist workers with ongoing acute and chronic healthcare issues through tailored case management.
